Chakrata is a scenic hill station and cantonment town located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is situated in the Dehradun district, in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Chakrata is known for its pristine natural beauty, tranquil environment, and a range of outdoor activities. 

Chakrata is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of around 2,118 meters (6,949 feet) above sea level.
The town is surrounded by dense forests of deodar and rhododendron trees, making it a paradise for nature lovers. The lush greenery and panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges contribute to its scenic charm.

One of the highlights of Chakrata is the Tiger Falls, which is the highest direct waterfall in Uttarakhand. It's a popular trekking destination and offers an opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of nature.

Chilmiri Neck is another famous spot in Chakrata, providing breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. It's an ideal location for picnics and short treks. Deoban is a dense forest area in Chakrata known for its Deodar trees. It's a great place for nature walks and bird watching. Chakrata offers a range of adventure activities, including trekking, camping, and rock climbing. The Kanasar and Chorani Eco Huts are known for camping facilities.

Chakrata is home to a military cantonment area, and entry to some areas may be restricted for civilians due to security reasons. Chakrata is accessible by road from Dehradun, which is approximately 90 kilometers away. The nearest railway station is in Dehradun, and the nearest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, also in Dehradun.

Chakrata enjoys a moderate climate throughout the year. Summers are pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities, while winters can be cold and occasionally experience snowfall. The region is known for its diverse wildlife, and you may come across various species of birds and animals during your visit.
